Photoshop and drawingtablet

His lungs were burning and his legs would no longer support his weight.

He had flopped down on the cold stone; his ill-treated wings draped around him. Powerless.

The boy bit down on his lower lip to stop the uncontrollable shaking of his body.

His eyes, unaccustomed to so much light, squinted as Azurr surveyed his surroundings.


It had all been worth it. He was finally free...



Yep, here's another sketch for a runner up from =kilara's Avian contest. 'Bout time too. I've been slacking off with these... This is =Birvan's character, Azurr. Poor kid wasn't treated to well in his early years. I had far too much fun on this piece. Went totally overboard with the line-art, slapped on a background and experimented with coloring techniques. Go me?

I love the wings, they look so plump and fluffy!I love drawings wings but that's my problem, I can't seem to depict them the way I want, this way!

It's pretty, I love the coloring technique here because the dull colors make it seem very calm. :)

Thanks! I had to practice a lot, actually. Around this time last year I couldn't draw a proper set of feathery wings at all. XD

Oooh, I like the coloring style in this one, the dull colors really make it look like he's sitting in the shade of the tree. :dummy:

This has an interesting look to it, do more like this with the strong lineart and pale colors. :) Awesome drawing, all around, especially those wings. And his foot. And the background. Okay, so... yeah, it's all well drawn, lol. :D
