Photoshop and drawingtablet

So after the hard drive crash from several months ago I got my pc up and running again, and I decided it was time for some warm-up art, if you will. Got a newer version of Photoshop and I needed to get some art done to get used to it, re-establish which brushes I prefer, set up my new work environment, etc, etc.

Plus, you'd be surprised at how quickly you can apparently unlearn how to draw if you stop doing it for a few months. It's kind of scary.

Now I still owe one person a contest prize, but I didn't want to use their art as a guinea pig for this. So I decided to enter =shorty-antics-27's contest instead. Figured I'd also have a shot at practising shading, backgrounds and bat wing anatomy that way, so it's a win-win-win sort of deal.

<sub>Now I should probably mention that this doesn't mean I'll be restarting SoL soon as well. The comic will have to stay on hiatus for a while longer while I work on my thesis. Frankly though, this might be a good thing, because it means I'll have more time for larger coloured pieces like this, which I find are quite useful in fighting off the art-block funk I've been experiencing. My production rate for comic pages was dropping at an alarming rate, which usually means a break is in order.
